More than 34 thousand people across Europe contracted measles between January and February this year.

Most of the cases were in Ukraine and authorities launched a vaccination campaign in a bid to combat the spread of the disease.

About 34,300 people died out of the virus in 42 European countries especially Ukraine, Romania and Albania.

At the meantime, this epidemic is spreading in the United States, Thailand and the Philippines.

“60 new persons were infected by the epidemic in the last week,” health officials in the US confirmed.

They stated that the number of patients rose to 764 in 23 states for the first time since 25 years.

The World Health Organization (WHO) warned of the disease spread in other countries.

The organization released a statement yesterday to stress the importance of vaccinating kids, teenagers and adults in all countries.

Measles is an infectious disease that can cause blindness, hearing loss, brain damage and finally death.

Only 2 dosages of an effective vaccination could protect people from being infected.
