Unforgettable Sports Champion Mazen El-Samahy

The Shooting Club in Egypt hosted the book signing of "The Potential Strength and the Charming Smile", written about the Egyptian sports champion Mazen El-Samahy.

Several remarkable figures attended the event including Founder and President of Awladna for the Arts of Children with Special Needs and Awladna International Forum Soheir Abdel Kader, musician and composer Helmy Bakr, and Special Olympics Egypt's President Hany Mahmoud.

The crew of the series "The Secret" comprising the famous actress Wafaa Amer and the director Mohamed Hamdy, sports champion Tarek Shalaby, media personality Mervat Salama (Mazen's aunt), and TV presenter Mohamed El-Samahy (Mazen's brother) were also present.

About Mazen El-Samahy

Although Mazen El-Samahy suffered down syndrome, he never surrendered to his surrounding circumstances.

He was a distinguished Egyptian and International champion in swimming, equestrianism, table tennis, and bowling. During his sports career, he managed to achieve 180 gold, 60 silver, and 30 bronze medals.

Alongside with Egyptian stars Hussien Fahmi, Wafaa Amer, and Nedal Al-Shafei, Mazen was the hero of the series "The Secret". Around a year ago, he passed away.

About the Book

After Mazen's death, his mother Farida Salama decided to commemorate her son's achievements through the book titled "The Potential Strength and the Charming Smile". 

"The book, which took from eight months to one year to see the light, records Mazen's biography and victories," Farida told SEE.

"As shown in the book when inpiduals with special needs are given the chance, they will do miracles."

In this regard, Tarek Shalaby's mother Nariman Mansour added, "The positive side about the book is that it teaches people how to deal with persons with special needs."
