It seems a little bit weird adding mayonnaise in a doughnut’s recipe, but in fact this trick is widely used by professional chefs in order to have soft and fresh doughs in general.

This amazing trial will prevent you from ordering take away doughnuts from bakeries any more, as it's supposed to be an amazing experience. Here’s the recipe.

Ingredients

2 cup flour

¼ cup warm water

1 large cup yoghurt

2 tbsp mayonnaise

2 tbsp powder milk

1 tbsp yeast

1 tbsp sugar

Pinch of salt

1 tsp baking powder

Recipe

Add the yeast to sugar and warm water and set them aside for minutes.

In a bowl, mix all dry ingredients: flour, salt, powder milk and baking powder.

Add yoghurt, mayonnaise to dry ingredients and mix all components well.

Add the yeast, after being doubled in size.

On a floured countertop, knead the dough with both arms for not less than 5 minutes, then cover it and let it ferment in a warm place.

After fermentation, scatter some flour again on the countertop and roll out the fermented dough till getting a thickness of more than 0.5 cm.

Cut the dough in round doughnuts’ shapes using flipped cup for the outer circle and a bottle cap for the inside small one, then cover the donuts and let them ferment again.

In a hot frying pan, fry donuts on both sides for 2 to 3 minutes or until they are golden brown.

Remove the doughnuts with a slotted spoon by allowing excess oil to drain back into the pan. Drain the doughnuts on paper towels to avoid a greasy eating experience.

While the doughnuts are still hot, garnish their upper half with melted black or white chocolate or brown sugar with cinnamon.
