Mashat: Investment in human factor contributes to tourism's success

CAIRO, July 14 (SEE) - Tourism Minister Rania Al Mashat said the Tourism Ministry takes into account the file of training and qualifying tourism sector's staff, stressing that investment in human factor is one of the most important elements of tourism's success.

Mashat made these remarks on Friday during her meeting with Marriott International CEO Arne M. Sorenson, the ministry said in a statement.

The minister lauded the cooperation agreement, signed by the American hospitality company, Helwan University and Professional Development Foundation on developing a new academic program at Faculty of Tourism and Hotels of the university on managing and operating hotels.

She also reviewed the positive indicators of the Egyptian tourism and its revenues at the first quarter of this year as well as the ministry's efforts meant to structurally reform its departments.

Mashat said that the ministry is keen on ensuring the hotels' quality here to be in line with the international standards.

Sorenson, for his part, hailed Egypt's stability that pushes Egyptian tourism forwards, pointing out to the historic relations between his company and Egypt.

He expressed his interest in boosting ties with Egypt and expanding Marriott's role here, reviewing the importance of his company's investments in the country.

He voiced his happiness with joining Mena House Hotel to Marriott's management due to its historical importance, saying the company will renovate the hotel.
