Senegal head coach Aliou Cisse said on Saturday Liverpool's star Sadio Mane will not participate in Senegal's first match in the 2019 AFCON against Tanzania.

The Senegalese star was suspended after he received a yellow card in the tournament's qualifier matches.

"Mane is an important player, but our 23-man squad is ready to make up his absence," the coach told DZfoot newspaper.

"We all know that the presence of Mane will add weight to the tournament," he added.

"Even without Mane, Lions of Teranga is a strong team," Cisse remarked.

It is worth mentioning that Senegal, pooled in group C alongside Kenya, Algeria, and Tanzania, will begin their mission against Tanzania on Sunday, June 23 at Air Defense Stadium at 19:00 CLT.

The Lions of Teranga arrived at Cairo International Airport on Friday. They will play their last warm-up match against Nigeria on Sunday, June 16; then they will head to Cairo to begin their adventure.
