Today, French President Emmanuel Macron accused Russia and Turkey of seeking a "strategy" aimed to inflame anti-French sentiments in Africa and exploiting "post-colonial discontent."

Macron said: "There is a strategy that is being pursued, sometimes implemented by African leaders, but mainly foreign powers such as Russia and Turkey."

Macron added, "We must not be naive: many who raise their voices and shoot videos, and those who are on the Internet, are getting paid from Russia or Turkey."

The president stressed that "there are no negotiations with terrorists in the Sahel region."

The president also emphasised France's opposition to any negotiations with the militants, saying that "We do not negotiate with terrorists, we only fight them."

He praised the "courage" of the Algerian President Abd El-Majid Tebboune and hoped for the "success of the transition process."

"I will do what I can to help President Tebboune in the transitional stage," Macron added. "If Algeria does not succeed, Africa will not succeed."
