French President Emmanuel Macron extended a message to Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebbounehe, telling him that he will visit Algeria soon.

Macron conveyed his sincere wishes to Tebbounehe and the Algerian people on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the recovery of the national sovereignty, Algeria Press Service Agency reported.

“Mr President and dear friend, on this five July 2022, when Algeria is commemorating the 60th anniversary of its independence, it is a pleasure to send a message of friendship and solidarity, on my own behalf and on the behalf of France, to you, to Algeria and the Algerian people, accompanied by the most sincere wishes for your country,” the message read.

“In response to your invitation, I will be pleased to visit Algeria soon to launch together this new bilateral agenda, built on trust and mutual respect of our sovereignties,” Macron wrote. "I hope that we will be able to work on it from now in order to back this ambition on solid foundations and include it in a common agenda."

Last year, Macron sent two Canadair waterbomber planes, along with a command aircraft to Kabylie to control blazes in forests across northern Algeria which have claimed many lives. The French leader offered “unreserved solidarity” to Algerians and affirmed his “full support.”
