Many Arab actors have refused to get married or after neglecting their families, suffered porces. They have gone short of food and have even been physically abused because of their devotion to their art.

Zaki Rostom, a respected Egyptian actor, puts it this way:" My art is my life. And my life is my art. l can not separate the two."

According to his niece Laila Rostom, he was in love with a wealthy girl since his college days but later on, she married someone else.

"His tough character which was more or less the reason why he did not get married or have any children until the day he died," She noted.

It's worth noting that the late actor was born in March 1903 to an aristocratic family of distinguished position.

Ultimately, Rostom who was extremely dedicated to his artistic career also chose not to get involved with anyone. He was, essentially, married to his work.
