Lebanon: Violent Clashes Continue in Tripoli, Leave One Dead

On Thursday, a young Lebanese man died as a result of his injury during overnight clashes between anti-government protesters and security forces, in Tripoli city, Lebanon.

This morning, the Lebanese army restored calm to Tripoli, after a long night of confrontations with the protesters. The security forces used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators and brought in reinforcements from the army.

On Wednesday, the Lebanese Red Cross announced that 74 protesters and 9 security forces members were injured in clashes in Tripoli.

Moreover, one of the security forces members was seriously injured while 63 protesters were treated on-site and 11 others were transferred to nearby hospitals.

This is the third consecutive day of protests in Tripoli against the total lockdown imposed by the authorities to curb the spread of coronavirus.
