LAFF Faces Serious Financial Crisis

Sayed Fouad, the President of the Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF), said on Thursday that the festival is facing a huge financial crisis as the Ministry of Culture didn't set the required funding for the festival.

Moreover, the government previously decided to suspend any events or activities through the upcoming months until further notice.

He added to Al Masry El Youm newspaper, that the government's decision led them  to cancel opening and closing ceremonies, therefore, the festival crew is preparing for the festival which will be kicked off on March 25 .

Fouad asserted that the festival's organizing committee is contacting various celebrities and jury members. He also revealed that the festival is working on hosting an international star.

The festival was established in 2010 and aims to promote African cinema in Egypt and encourage the rising filmmakers in the continent.
