American singer-actress Lady Gaga confirmed Thursday her casting in the musical sequel to 2019’s “Joker“ by posting a musical teaser on social media.
The sequel, officially titled “Joker: Folie à Deux”, will star Gaga opposite Joaquin Phoenix, who is reprising his role of Joker after winning the Oscar for best actor for his performance in the 2019 first installment.
It was announced in June that the multi-hyphenate was in talks for the role of Harley Quinn in the upcoming sequel.

Todd Phillips has been co-writing the script of the sequel with co-writer Scott Silver for some time and has finally shown it to the studio.
The first Joker was the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time with $1.07 billion worldwide and earned 11 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, and a second Oscar win for Hildur Guðnadóttir’s original score.
It also starred Brett Cullen as Batman’s dad Thomas Wayne, Robert De Niro as talk show host, Murray Franklin, Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond, Arthur’s love interest, as well as Marc Maron, Bill Camp, and Shea Whigham.
The movie’s story was completely original and didn’t follow any previously published comic books that feature the character.

The highly-anticipated sequel to the mega-hit comic book movie is set to begin principal photography in December.
“Joker: Folie à Deux” will be hitting theaters on October 4, 2024. It will open on means the five-year anniversary of the first movie.
