Saget Afik, Legal adviser to the Knesset( the  Israeli legislative body) affirmed that the Arab members of the Joint List who changed the form of the oath during swearing to office will be deprived of some of their rights as lawmakers.

Afik pointed out that the inflected sanctions of the Arab lawmakers will not be in effect for a long period.

She added the Arab members of the Knesset are expected to swear again next Monday according to Walla, an Israeli news website.

She revealed that the salaries of the Arab members will be slashed due to their abusing of the oath.

The sanctions include abolishing the hiring of parliamentarian advisers, legal fees, and traveling abroad to perform parliamentarian activities.

The oath of lawmakers in Israel begins with the pledge of the newcomer to the Knesset to be faithful and sincere to the State of Israel and to be consecrated to his cause in the council.

Members of the Arab List aroused more controversy last Tuesday when they rephrased the traditional pledge to serve Israel and the Knesset.

The Arab lawmakers instead vowed to fight the Israeli occupation, apartheid, and racism.

The rephrased oath was faced with anger and condemnations of the other Israeli members,

Speaker on the Knesset Yariv Levien, Likud party, refused to accept the oath of the Arab members.

Security of the Knesset escorted the Arab out for harassing the formalities of the Israeli parliament.

The Arab List comprises parties of Al Gabha ( the Front), al Tagmuea ( Gathering), and The Arab Movement for Change.

It is worth noting that the Arab members, Ayman Audah, Aydah  Soliman Thoma, and Samy Abu Shehada added various phrases to the oath.

On the other hand, Ahmed Tibi, a member of the Knesset left yesterday, Thursday, the traditional ceremony held to commemorate victims of the genocide of Jews in Nazi Germany in the 30s of the 20th century.

Tibi protested the participation of Itamar bin Gvir, an extremist member in the event.

The event was mounted under the title " Unto every person there is a name".
