Jordan's PM Tests Positive for COVID-19

Jordan's Prime Minister Bishr Khasawneh tested positive for the coronavirus, the government announced on Monday.

Faisal Shboul, State Minister for Media Affairs, revealed that "a test conducted earlier today for the premier, who is in Egypt on an official visit, came back positive," Jordan News Agency Petra said in a statement.

Moreover, Shboul added that the scheduled official visits have been cancelled, including a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and a meeting of the Jordanian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.

He also affirmed that the prime minister is going to self-quarantine upon his return to the Kingdom according to the established health protocol.

On his part, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly wished Khasawneh a speedy recovery after they chaired the 30th joint higher committee meeting.

Meantime, the Kingdom recorded 31 coronavirus deaths and 11,254 cases, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 13,713 and the caseload to 1,582,161, according to the Health Ministry.
