On Monday, the Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, praised the Egyptian efforts that contributed to a truce deal in Gaza following the Israeli military aggression on the Palestinian people.
Safadi’s remarks came in a joint press conference his Yemeni counterpart, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, in Amman.
The Jordanian top diplomat said that he discussed with his Yemeni counterpart the Palestinian issue, welcoming the entry into force of the truce between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
He called for an immediate return to serious negotiations on the Palestinian issue to achieve peace on the basis of the two-state solution that ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
US President Joe Biden also thanked President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and senior Egyptian officials for their central role in mediating a ceasefire between Israel and the Islamic Jihad that ended three days of fighting.
The ceasefire came into effect on Sunday at 11:30 PM local time (8:30 GMT) after Egypt conducted intense communications with both sides to contain the escalation.
