The Jordanian Armed Forces foiled Friday an infiltration attempt across the border into Syria.

Local news media reported, according to a responsible military source in the General Command of the Armed Forces, that the eastern military region thwarted, at dawn today, Friday, an attempt by a group of people to infiltrate from Jordanian lands into Syrian lands.

The source stated that the rules of engagement were applied, which led to the injury of a number of them, their arrest and their transfer to the competent security authorities.

The source stressed that "the Armed Forces will deal with full force and firmness with any infiltration or smuggling attempt to protect the borders and any attempt to tamper with the country's national security."

Earlier,  MP Mohamed Al-Fayez commented on the economic situation of his country during the recent period, saying that Jordan "is on the verge of a budget deficit of more than 2.5 billion dinars"

The parliamentarian added, "We as Jordanians have become beggars because we depend on donations, grants and aid.”
