The Ministry of ImmigrationMinistry of Immigration and Egyptian Affairs Abroad answers the entreaty of the family of an Egyptian man who died in Jordan.

The minister Nabila Makram

The Ministry was requested by the deceased family to cover up his medical expenses in Jordan, as they did not have the means to clear them.

Thus, Nabila Makram Abd ElShahid, the Minister of Immigration contacted the Jordanian Minister of Labor Nedal ElBatania as well as the Egyptian Embassy in Jordan and the Jordanian Embassy in Cairo to discuss the necessary solutions.

After studying the situation and presenting it to the Jordanian Council of Ministers, Makram was informed that the Jordanian Council approved the clearance of the family from all medical expenses as well as finishing all legal procedures to transfer the body to Egypt.

Makram expressed her utter gratitude to the Jordanian Authorities for clearing the family of all medical expenses. She also sent her genuine condolences to the deceased’s family.

The minister recognized the efforts of the Egyptian Embassy in Jordan and the Jordanian Embassy in Cairo and expressed her gratitude for their role in solving the problem.

The complaint dates back to September 25th when the deceased Ashraf Abd ElAziz Atwa died in the Amir Hamza Hospital in Jordan where his medical expenses from his admission till his death exceeded 15 thousand Dinar - about 350 thousand Egyptian Pounds.

The minister of Immigration contacted the Egyptian Ambassador in Jordan Sherif Kamal upon receiving the complaint.

Kamal on his behalf confirmed the situation and mentioned the Embassy’s efforts to either cover the expenses or negotiate with the hospital to transfer the body without covering the expenses.

The Embassy pointed to the fact that according to the Jordanian law the body will be buried in Jordan (Governmental Cemeteries.) after 45 days from the death if the expenses are not covered.

Makram also contacted Ambassador Aly ElAied, the Jordanian Ambassador in Egypt and informed him of the family’s wishes to transfer the body to Egypt to be buried in the family’s cemetery.

Immediately, he contacted the concerned authorities in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and informed the Minister of Immigration of the request’s approval.

Thus, the body will be transferred to Egypt as soon as possible.
