Japan: Tour Boat with 30 People Onboard Missing off Coast

Saturday, April 23, the Japanese Coast Guard said that a tour boat was about to sink off the coast of Hokkaido in Japan.

The coast guard explained that its members rushed to rescue nearly 30 people who were on the tour boat.

The guard received a report from the "Kadzu Van" boat that water had leaked inside and was about to sink off the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido.

Broadcaster NHK reported that the passengers and crew of the boat had donned life jackets and were waiting for rescuers.

The coast guard confirmed that their boats are heading to the site of the accident.
