On Friday, Japan's Yoshihide Suga announced that he would step down as prime minister after his failure in controlling the country's coronavirus surge.

This crucial decision came after he had already adopted Japan's strategy for covid-19 in response to the awful pandemic and campaigned to lead his governing Liberal Democratic Party at the same time pided his energies.

Lately, Japan's Prime Minister has faced criticism over a coronavirus response seen as too slow and for holding Olympics this year.

Also in this regard, Suga has been criticized for not sending convincing messages to the people to have the suitable sense of crisis.

Tougher new restrictions have been announced, but Japan's health officials have complained that the regulations are rarely enforced and little attention is paid to whether infected people self-quarantine.

Notably, Suga quite possibly could become the first Asian leader to step down over the covid controversy.
