Japan PM Yoshihide Suga to visit US in April

The Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga will pay an official visit to the US in April, Katsunobu Kato, the chief of the cabinet secretary announced in a press conference on Friday.

Suga will be one of the earliest foreign leaders to have a face to face meeting with the US President Joe Biden

The forthcoming meeting will enhance the deep strategic relations between the US and its ally Japan amid the challenges meet the new US administration in Asia.

Kato said during the press conference: "Having face-to-face exchanges of frank views is extremely meaningful," adding: "The government delegation will be limited to the minimum number required, and all accompanying personnel will be vaccinated."

The current political situation in Indo-Pacific region, climate change, and COVID-19 status updates are the top files in Biden-Suga talk.

Finally, Kato asserted: "We hope that Japan and the United States will further strengthen our relations and work closely together to achieve a free and open Indo-Pacific.”
