Liverpool former captain Jamie Carragher said on Wednesday that the Reds would not let Egyptian star Mohamed Salah leave the Anfield.

Salah has been linked with La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona almost ever since he arrived at Liverpool in 2017.

In statements to Mirror, Carragher said that Salah's opportunity to leave the Anfield became very weak as he became like Tottenham star Harry Kane as the pair missed a chance for a big money transfer move, and  they are expected to stay at their current clubs for the long haul.

"The pair are widely considered to be the best two forwards in the Premier League, but with Salah turning 29 in June and Kane 28 in July, Carragher thinks their age counts against them," Mirror reported.

"I think he'll (Salah) be there (at Liverpool) for the next few years. I think he's in a similar position to Harry Kane," said the Reds legend on his former teammate Robbie Fowler's podcast," he added.

" Liverpool wouldn't let Salah go to anyone else in this country. And would you want to play for PSG instead of Liverpool? I would be very surprised if he did in the French league. I think Salah is here to stay."
