American actor Jake Gyllenhaal will produce and star in "Oblivion Song", an adaptation of Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici’s graphic novel.

Released by Image Comics in 2018, “Oblivion Song” centered around Nathan Cole, a man who makes daily trips to try and rescue those still living in Oblivion, an apocalyptic hellscape in Philadelphia that was lost a decade prior, along with 300,000 of its citizens.

Gyllenhaal will produce the movie with Riva Marker via his Nine Stories production company along with Kirkman.

The movie will also be produced by David Alpert, Bryan Furst, and Sean Furst of Skybound Entertainment, as well as Brian Oliver and Bradley Fischer of New Republic Pictures, who optioned film rights to the graphic novels.

“Oblivion Song” is the first project announced under the first-look deal with the New Republic and Nine Stories.

Gyllenhaal is also set to star in Michael Bay’s action thriller “Ambulance” for Universal, and Antoine Fuqua’s “The Guilty” for Netflix.
