On Monday, the Italian city of Cortona witnessed a major archaeological cultural festival, where the Egyptian prominent archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass gave a lecture on the recent archaeological discoveries in Egypt.

The mayor of the Italian city of Cortona announced that Dr. Hawass has been named as Man of the Year, given his archaeological discoveries and his role in preserving world antiquities and heritage.

On his part, Hawass affirmed that Egypt has witnessed a great leap in archaeological discoveries that astonished the whole world in the past period.

Notably the Italian city’s mayor has recently received Hawass to speak about the recent archaeological discoveries in Egypt, especially the Golden City in Luxor.

The mayor of the city presented Hawass with a discussion of ways of cooperation between the Cortona City Museum and the Egyptian Museum.

The city is currently preparing a huge advertising campaign through various media outlets, announcing in most of its streets the visit of Hawass and the lecture he will give about the Lost Golden City in Luxor, which dates back to the reign of King Amenhotep III and continued to be used by King Tutankhamun, 3,000 years ago.

This visit comes within the framework of promoting Egyptian tourism and highlighting the precautionary measures taken by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in Egypt to ensure the safety and security of all tourists.
