The Italian National Institute of Health and Care Excellence announced that the Delta variant is the main reason for 16.8% of the recent COVID-19 infections in the country, RT reported on Saturday.

The number of infections with mutated versions of the Coronavirus jumped to 16.8% instead of 4.2% in May.

Currently, Europe is seeing a tragic increase in COVID-19 infections due to the outbreak of the Delta variant.

Furthermore, it raised a sense of concern in Europe amid the easing of the pandemic restrictions.

Several countries started easing some restrictions such as wearing masks, and social distances. On the other hand, Europe started to welcome non-EU residents for holidays.

Until now, all health advisors asserted that all vaccines are effective against the new variant.
