Israeli Prime Minister( PM) Naftali Bennett said on Friday that he had received threats from the opposition leader, former PM Benjamin Netanyahu when he decided to form the government.

Bennett explained that Netanyahu pointed his arm as if he was throwing a bomb and told him, "I will send drones on you, you should know that I will send my entire war machine against you, and we will see," according to Hebrew media.

Bennett indicated that this happened between them when he resorted to Netanyahu's political opponents to form the new-then- government, accusing Netanyahu of "sowing chaos, hysteria and distrust" in the current government.

Bennett added that Netanyahu "talked about his army of bots and groups on social networks and websites, and his affiliates on radio and television and on the Internet."

"He's built one of the most effective propaganda machines ever," Bennett said. "He's inventing stories at a crazy pace."

Last June, the Israeli Knesset supported the formation of a new coalition government headed by  Bennett, ending Benjamin Netanyahu's 12-year tenure as prime minister.

The leader of the right-wing (Yamina) party, Bennett, will remain prime minister until August 2023, during which period the leader of the centrist (There is a Future) party Yair Lapid will be alternate prime minister and foreign minister before taking over the premiership for two years. Bennett pledges to honor the agreement to rotate the government with Lapid.

The ruling coalition in Israel of parties from the left to the right was approved by a razor-thin majority of 60 to 59 seats, and Bennett will lead it until September 2023 before handing power to his centrist ally Lapid, the current foreign minister.
