Isra Galal Comes First in 'Falling Walls' Competition in Berlin

“Beit El Sennary”, a cultural center situates in Ottoman Cairo area, hosted the finals of 3rd version of the “Falling Walls” completion.

This competition is a field of cooperation between the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Egypt and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of German Federal Republic. Thousands of competitors went in that competition.

The jury granted Isra Galal, Assistant Lecturer at Zewail University, the first place for her project name” a nanoic bandage for treating bruises of diabetic patients”.

The jury comprised Dr Omar Farouq, Deputy- Chairman of Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Asabele Muring, representative of the German Organization for Cultural Exchange, Philip Mubay, representative of the German Embassy in Egypt, Rasha Yahia Tantawy, representative of Center of the Technical Invention and Entrepreneurship, Sonia Mek, representative of German-Arab Chamber of Commerce, Hoda El Mahgoub, office director of Berlin Free University in Cairo and Radwa Younis, an official of Misr El Khaiar charity foundation.

The winning competitor was chosen for the scientific content, lucidity and good performance of her project.

She will fly to Berlin to represent Egypt in the international competition “the Falling Walls” held in November.

100 finalists will take part in that competition and they have chance to present their projects or ideas to a higher committee including leading figures in the academia and commercial fields.

On behalf of Dr Mahmud Saqr, chairman of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Dr Omar Farouq, said the academy is the national partner in the international competition” the Falling Walls” for the third year in a row.

The competition is an aspect of support presented by the academy to encourage the scientific research.

Dr Farouq shed light on “ Cairo invents” program that supports projects of graduation, scientific coalition, networks, 3D animation series “ Al Azhar and Nour” and the annual Cairo International for Invention launched by the academy.
