Iranian Foreign Minister (FM) Hussein Amir Abdollahian announced the possibility of reaching an agreement in the Vienna negotiations on the nuclear agreement within a few hours or days if Western countries show initiative and flexibility.

The chief  Iranian diplomat indicated in an interview with "CNN" that the parties were never at any time close to signing an agreement in this regard.

Amir Abdollahian revealed more details saying that the administration of (Iranian President Ibrahim) Raisi emphasizes the interest in reaching a good and quick agreement.

Abdollahian added that in order to reach a good agreement, we have made more efforts in recent weeks.

Negotiations are currently underway in Vienna about returning to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (known also as JCPA)  signed in 2015 to lift US sanctions against Iran.

But in May 2018, then US President Donald Trump decided to withdraw from the nuclear deal and restore sanctions against Tehran.

In response, Iran announced a gradual reduction of its commitments under the deal.
