The International Organization of Migration (IOM) in Egypt held a three-day Regional Media Workshop in collaboration with the National Coordinating Committee for Combatting and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM &TIP).

The three-day workshop for journalists took place this week and brought together a wide range of stakeholders and maven media experts, including a Professor of Practice at the Journalism and Mass Communication Department at AUC, Mervat Abou Oaf, and others.

During the workshop, journalists discussed harmonized approaches and concepts related to public awareness on the risks associated with irregular migration, trafficking in persons, and safe migration practices, according to IOM Egypt.

Several speakers shared storytelling methodologies in a masterclass in this fruitful event, as well as some who revealed how their efforts have made a difference in combatting and preventing illegal migration and trafficking in people.

The workshop was funded by the European Union’s Regional Development and Protection Programme (RDPP).

It was attended by 19 senior journalists coming from nine Arab countries (Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait, Yemen, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Sudan, and Bahrain).
