Cairo to Host Int'l Drums & Traditional Arts Festival

On Sunday, the Founder and President of International Drums and Traditional Arts Intisar Abdel Fattah revealed the details of the eighth edition of the event. The festival will take place between June 12 to 18.

South Sudan and Colombia were selected to be the edition's guest of honors, in addition to honoring the Philippines. Regarding the theme of the festival, it is about a conversation between drums for peace.

Abdel Fattah asserted that the festival symbolizes Egypt's care of enhancing its international relations. She added that Egypt is known for calling for peace, spirituality, love, acceptance, joy, and cultural exchange in the light of COVID-19.

30 groups will participate in the upcoming edition of the International Drum and Traditional Arts Festival from several countries such as Yemen, Pakistan, Congo, Palestine, Egypt, Syria, Indonesia, and others.

A number of the occasion's events will take place in different venues in Cairo such as El Horiya Park, Al Hanager Theater, El Ghouri Complex, and Mahmoud Mokhtar Museum's Garden.

It's worthy to mention that several artists will be honored during the event such as Esmat Dawestashy, Abdel Gadir Salim, Mahasin El Helw, and others.
