The American embassy in Cairo has announced that the U.S. is currently accepting applications from outstanding Egyptian writers and novelists for the International Writing Program (IWP), to take place at the University of Iowa in August 2022.

In a statement released by the US embassy in Cairo, it said: "The State Department, in cooperation with the University of Iowa, is pleased to announce the International Writing Program (IWP). This program will bring together creative writers for a 12-week residency in August 2022. The application deadline is March 15, 2022."

Through this program, many Egyptian students will also take writing-focused literature and cultural seminars—in English—with their American and international counterparts. They will also participate in a writing workshop with Iowa University, the American embassy explained.

Candidates must be comfortable with cross-cultural dynamics and interested in interacting with other writers  from perse cultures and backgrounds, the embassy noted.
