The championship was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities represented by the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Egyptian Federation of Canoe and Kayak, and the Aswan Governorate, during the period from 21 till the 23rd of November.

The closing ceremony witnessed the distribution of prizes, certificates of appreciation and medals to the winners.

Members of the Aswan office also distributed some souvenirs, publications, and archaeological and tourist pamphlets of the various tourist and archaeological attractions in Egypt generally and the city of Aswan in particular.

Iman Mahmoud, head of the internal tourism sector at the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, said that the activities of this race started from the area surrounding the island of Philae Temple in Aswan.

She explained that the choice of that area in Aswan was because of its calm waters and the beautiful landscapes of granite rocks that characterize this region, with the presence of Philae temple in the background of the race.

She added that Egypt, especially Aswan, was chosen to hold this race due to the good weather conditions compared to Europe at this time.

Mahmoud indicated that this race is part of the "EuroTourSup" competition, stressing the importance of using this championship to promote the city of Aswan, especially during the winter season where these sporting activities are halted in Europe.

Mahmoud also pointed out to the importance of focusing on presenting Aswan in a different way through Sports tourism activities, in addition to highlighting the various cultural tourist attractions in it, in order to enhance its competitive value.

A number of players from foreign countries participated in the competition, and players from the Aswan Kayak Club participated in the race as well, to encourage the contestants and introduce Aswan Club players to the sport of standing rowing, in addition to the participation of amateurs in the race to encourage sports tourism.

The contestants completed 14 km, and the first place in male competitions was won by Peru while the second place was obtained by Russia.
