Imam Shafi'i Mosque's Dome Inaugurated after Restoration

Mohamed Mukhtar Jumaa, Minister of Endowments, and Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, inaugurated on Sunday, the Qubba (dome )of the Imam Shafi’i Mosque in Cairo after its renovation.

This came within the framework of the Ministry of Endowments’s interest in heritage art and Islamic architecture represented in the major ancient mosques and in light of cooperation and coordination between the Ministries of Endowments, Tourism, and Antiquities in the restoration and maintenance of ancient mosques.

 

The inauguration was attended by Major General Khaled Abdel Al, Governor of Cairo, Dr. Ali Jumaa, the former Grand Mufti, the US Ambassador to Egypt, Sheikh Khaled Khader, Director of the Cairo Endowments Directorate, as well as a number of media professionals and journalists.

 

On this occasion, the Endowments minister affirmed that the state is paying great interest to Islamic heritage facilities, pointing out to the unprecedented cooperation and the utmost understanding between the Ministry of Endowments and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

 

It is worth mentioning that the dome of the Imam al-Shafi’i Mosque in Cairo was developed, maintained, and restored at a cost of EGP 22 million, after the opening of the mosque’s renovations in November 2020 at a cost of EGP 13 million funded by the Ministry of Endowments.
