During the launching ceremony of the American University in Cairo (AUC) first media club, Prof. Ehab Abdel Rahman, the AUC provost talked in his speech about a group of young people who have succeeded to become owners of one of Egypt's major transportation companies, through a unique simple experience based on respect for human values, cleanliness and punctuality.

Dr. Abdel Rahman proudly talked about this remarkable experience, considering it one of the most successful public transport projects, came out of a simple idea by a 20-year AUC student.

The start-up has raised $42 million in fresh funds, which makes it one of the best-funded startups of the region. It has also managed to provide around 1,500 jobs for youth.

The innovative idea of Mustafa Kandil has become one of the major companies in Egypt, gaining revenues of about LE 1 billion, and has expanded to reach Africa as one of the best 50 companies emerged under the umbrella of a successful business incubator at the AUC.

The AUC has invested this success in creating the larger project of “The Innovation Center”, to encourage students to discover their own abilities and skills; it also allows large companies and businessmen to be present provided that students are assisted, and trained.

This particular glimpse is what we need in our universities, which are in dire need of talent development and investment to cover the expenses of the educational process, and to achieve the integration among universities, students and employers as a way to create courageous generations who are able to set up their own projects and break into the labor market, with the support of loyal businessmen and experienced entrepreneurs.

We need to apply this thought in all Egyptian universities, in the light of the existing distinctive programs, and to expand the establishment of foreign universities in Egypt, which I personally support, wishing to double their number to accommodate all 'Thanawya Amma' graduates.

We hope to see all our youth becoming millionaires from their out-of-the-box simple ideas, and businessmen find an opportunity to express their patriotism through serving the talented in our homeland and embracing their ambitions.
