Hollywood Star Brian Dennehy Dies at 81

Hollywood star Brian Dennehy, known for roles in "Tommy Boy" and "First Blood", has passed away Wednesday evening of natural causes in Connecticut. He was 81.

Dennehy's agent revealed in a press statement that the veteran actor has died from natural causes not related to coronavirus at his Connecticut home on Wednesday evening, with his wife Jennifer and son Cormac by his side.

Dennehy is also survived by his four children, three of whom are from his previous marriage.

"It is with heavy hearts we announce that our father, Brian passed away last night from natural causes, not COVID-related, "Elizabeth Dennehy paid tribute to her late father on Twitter.

"Larger than life, generous to a fault, a proud and devoted father and grandfather, he will be missed by his wife Jennifer, family and many friends." she concluded.

In memoir

The legend was born on July 9, 1938, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He started his acting career at the age of 14 in New York City, while at high school in Brooklyn, where he played the title role in a production of Macbeth.

Dennehy had a scholarship at Columbia University, and then served five years of service in the US Marines.

The veteran actor rose to stardom in 1982 playing the role of sheriff Will Teasle in "First Blood" starring Sylvester Stallone.

In the 1960's he worked as a truck driver, a bartender, and a salesman to fund his acting career with his bulky body.

Dennehy starred in nearly 200 movie and television productions, including “First Blood” and “Cocoon,” but he is primarily remembered for his theatrical performers.

The veteran actor earned his first Tony for his performance as protagonist "Willy Loman" in the 1999 revival of Arthur Miller’s “Death of a Salesman” and won his second in the 2003 revival of Eugene O’Neill’s “Long Day’s Journey Into Night.”
