History of Al Ahly-Etoile du Sahel Clashes

A few hours before the most awaited CAF Champions League encounter between Al Ahly and Etoile du Sahel, SEE explains the history of Al Ahly's encounters against Etoile du Sahel.

Both teams met eleven times before in all Africa's tournaments; CAF Champions League, Confederation Cup, and Super Cup.

The Red Devils pulled off the victory on three occasions; 2005, 2015, and 2017, whilst the Tunisian side won in three other games. While the six other games ended in draws, including four goalless draws.

The biggest result in the history of both team's encounters was in the second leg of the 2017 CAF Champions League semi-final at Borg Al Arab Stadium, where the Red Devils smashed Etoile du Sahel 6-2.

Sportive du Sahel are scheduled to host Ahly on Friday at Stade Olympique de Rades at 21:00 (CLT). The encounter is set to be aired through “Bein Sports HD 1” channel.

Al Ahly were pooled in Group B, alongside Platinum (Zimbabwe), Al-Hilal (Sudan), and Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia). In the other group match, Al-Hilal are set to host Platinum at 21:00 (CLT).

The Red Devils managed to reach the group stage after thrashing Etlaa Bara with unanswered thirteen goals on aggregate in the 64th round.

They also knocked out Cano Sport from the last 32 after demolishing the Guinean side with six clean goals on aggregate to qualify for the group stage.

The Tunisian side booked their place in the group stage after defeating Asante Kotoko 3-2 on aggregate in the last 32 of the tournament.
