Starting from January 2020, all third-country nationals who need a visa to the Schengen zone will have to pay 80 instead of 60 EUR.

This is in line with the amendments adopted by the EU Council to encounter all challenges posed by illegal immigration.

The fees value is not fixed and is going to be revised every 3 years to see whether it should be changed or not.

Other amendments to provide faster procedures for frequent travelers to Schengen territory were approved.

These amendments represented in presenting the visa application before the trip by minimum 15 days and maximum 6 months.

The current regulation states that the maximum period of submitting the application is 3 months before the trip.

Moreover, there will be a possibility of filling and signing the application form electronically.

Regular travelers to Schengen will also be able to get multiple entry visas valid from 1 to 5 years.

It’s remarkable that the European Parliament adopted these amendments in April before the EU council has recently adopted them.
