Egypt national team head coach Carlos Queiroz announced on Saturday that Ittihad Jeddah centre back Ahmed Hegazi will replace midfielder Emam Ashour in the FIFA Arab Cup.

Ashour was among the 23 players chosen by Carlos Queiroz to participate in the upcoming FIFA Arab Cup.

During his press conference on Saturday morning, Queiroz announced that they have decided to rule Ashour out  and will replace him with Ahmed Hegazi, making him the only foreign-based player in the squad.

Egypt were drawn in Group D alongside arch-rivals Algeria, Lebanon, and Sudan, with the Pharaohs’ first game taking place on December 1 against the Asian country, before facing Sudan three days later, and concluding the group stages against Algeria on December 7.
