Health Min. Completes Examining 4.1 Mln Students Against Anemia

CAIRO, March 14 (SEE)- Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed said 4.1 million students have been examined so far against Anemia, Obesity and Stunting in line with the early detection campaign launched by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

This was in a statement published on the ministry’s official Face book page.

The presidential campaign mainly targets primary school students and its first stage started on February 16th, while the second one was launched 6th of March.

Zayed said that 3,690,601 students have been examined during the first stage in Giza, Fayoum, Beheira, Alexandria, Qena, Assiut, Qalyubia, Damietta, Port Said, Matrouh and South Sinai.

She added, “During first week in the second stage, about 432,213 students have been examined in Cairo, Suez, Ismailia, Menoufia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Beni Suef, Sohag, Luxor, Aswan, Red Sea and North Sinai”.

On his part, Khaled Mujahid, health and population ministry spokesperson confirmed that examination process is conducted over 3 stages and the last one will be completed by end of April.

He pointed out that all infected children are being treated free of charge in clinics affiliated to health insurance.

It’s worth mentioning that early detection campaign targets the medical examination of 11.5 million children over 22,000 schools in Egypt.
