Hawass Center for Egyptology Organizes Visit to Saqqara

Dr. Zahi Hawass Center for Egyptology in the Cultural Communication Sector of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina organized a scientific visit to Saqqara`d antiquities and the Imhotep Museum.

Dr. Ahmed Badran, a professor of Egyptian antiquities at the Faculty of Archeology, Cairo University, and Dr. Hussein Abdel Bassir, director of the Zahi Hawass Center for Egyptology at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, presented two comprehensive presentations of the history and antiquities of Saqqara.

In their presentation, they discussed the ancient Egyptian innovation of building with stone and the role of engineer Imhotep in such works.

Badran confirmed that the Pyramid of Djoser is the oldest architectural building in the history of mankind, and that is why it is receiving the attention of the whole world.

The visit began with a practical explanation in the visual preparation room of the elements of the funeral group of King Djoser.

This was followed by a documentary film by the great archaeologist, Zahi Hawass, then a visit to the Imhotep Museum and the funerary collection of King Djoser and the Mariroka cemetery, the son-in-law of the King.

They visited the pyramid of King Osir Kaf and the tomb of "Ptah Hutb" and sister of Hout."

They moved to the two cemeteries of the two brothers, birds, artists, the cemetery of Nefer, the Maya cemetery and Hor Moheb.

The tour was concluded by a visit to the "Sarabium", the Apes tombs and the tomb of Ti.
