Hawass appointed as ambassador for world tourism

Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities hold a ceremony in the Golden Hall of Manial Palace, following the royal mummies parade, to honor of director-general of UNESCO, Mrs. Audrey Azoulay, Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili, the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and the foreign ministers of tourism.

After the ceremony, Mr. Pololikashvili handed Dr. Zahi Hawass, a written certificate made from the glass, appointing him as an ambassador for world tourism.

This is the first time for an Egyptian official to hold this position, this appointment aims to make Zahi Hawass responsible for encouraging tourism not only in Egypt but in the whole world.

Hawass said:” This appointment is a great honor for me and my country, Egypt, and this came after the royal mummy parade that dazzled the whole world”.

Hawass also thanked President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for paying attention to Egyptian heritage and civilization.
