US Vice President Kamala Harris affirmed on Saturday that the Biden administration is not seeking 'regime change' in Russia.

This came after US President Joe Biden’s remarks that Russian President Vladimir Putin “cannot remain in power” during a speech last week in Warsaw, Poland.

"Let me be very clear. We are not into regime change. This is not our policy," she said in an interview with Joy Reid, MSNBC Host.

“Our policy is to make sure that there will be real costs exacted against Russia in the form of tough sanctions, which is about saying there’s going to be consequences and accountability when you commit the kinds of atrocities that he is committing,” she added.

On the other hand, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Sunday that the US has no plans for regime change in Russia.

“I think the president made the point last night that, quite simply, President Putin cannot be authorized to wage war or attack Ukraine or anyone else,” Blinken said during a visit to Jerusalem.

“And as you know, as you’ve heard us say over and over, we don’t have any strategy for regime change in Russia or anywhere else,” the US Secretary of State continued.
