"Hamel El Lakab" to Screen at 12th Malmo Arab Film Festival

Dina El Sherbiny and Hisham Maged‘s new film “Hamel El Lakab” is set to screen at the closing ceremony of the 12th edition of the Malmö Arab Film Festival (MAFF).

The film features Maged as a famous football player, who is having problems with his wife, El Sherbiny, due to his desire not to have children.

The footballer’s life is changed when he is cursed and becomes pregnant with a child.

Hisham Fathy directed the movie from a script by Maged and Ehab Blaybel.

"Hamel El Lakab" also stars Mohamed Salam, Ahmed Fathi, and others.

The film marks the second collaboration between Maged and El Sherbiny after the 2017 TV series “Khalsana Beshiaka”.

The MAFF is set to take place from May 4-9 in Sweden, Europe.

The festival will open with Jordanian director Zaid Abu Hamdan's film "Daughters of Abdulrahman".

The 2022 program features 56 films, 31 features, and 25 shorts, produced by 14 different Arab countries, with co-production with 10 Western countries.

The programme also includes 12 films competing in the feature fiction films competition, 8 films in the feature documentary competition, and 25 films for the short film competition.

Furthermore, four films are set to play in the "Arabian Nights" programme, four films in a special screening programme titled "Films Worth Watching", and two films in the School screenings.

In addition, two films will screen in the Gala screenings on the festival's opening and closing nights.

The selected films will be mainly shown in Malmo and other cities in the region in parallel with the festival days (maximum 4 screenings).
