Hadia Ghaleb, an Egyptian fashionista, faced a sharp backlash from social media users for her remarks on the sexual predator case.

Ghaleb firstly claimed on an Instagram story that the Egyptian judiciary has only the privilege to punish Ahmed Bassam Zaki, the sexual harasser, not her.

"Who am I to decide someone else innocent or guilty," she stated.

Many social media users found these remarks defending Zaki because she did not blame him for his shameful actions.

Another controversial story was posted by the famous Instagrammer, during which she called on the victims and Zaki to conduct conference calls with them and engage the two parties into an objective dialogue. She pointed out that she would record the conversations and post them on her profile.

Social media users denounced her calls to interview the rapist, accusing her of stupidity and being a poor decision-maker.

They urged her to hold a responsibility to her community and all the young vulnerable girls.

It is worth noting that over 100 girls accused Zaki of having uncomfortable encounters with him. Many of these encounters went viral on Twitter and Instagram.

In the same context, the Egyptian Public Prosecution said it had received only one complaint from a girl, accusing Zaki of sexually harassing her.
