United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres held phone talks on Monday with Ukrainian Foreign Minister (FM) Dmytro Kuleba on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine.

During their conversation, both officials discussed security and human rights situations in Ukraine, according to a statement, published by the UN on its official website.

“The Secretary-General briefed Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs on the objectives of the Emergency Relief mission's Coordinator Martin Griffiths to Moscow and Kyiv," the statement read.

Moreover, Guterres reaffirmed the UN's commitment to a humanitarian ceasefire in Ukraine and to enhancing humanitarian support for the Ukrainian people.

It is worth mentioning that, the Russian-Ukrainian war has entered its second month as thousands of soldiers from both sides have been killed and millions have been displaced from the Ukrainian side since the start of Russian operations in Ukrainian territory on February 24.

Several countries have imposed significant economic sanctions on Moscow, while Russia has responded by imposing personal sanctions on a number of American and Canadian leaders.
