Production began on Marvel Studios’ long-awaited and highly-anticipated movie "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3".

American filmmaker James Gunn announced Monday on social media the news.

Gunn wrote on Twitter.

The tweet featured a photo of Gunn, who is both the writer and director of GOTG 3, posing with Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and Sean Gunn, who have all appeared in previous installments in the franchise.

It also featured Will Poulter, who was recently announced to be in the movie, as well as Chukwudi Iwuji, who will star in Gunn’s upcoming Peacemaker show.

Iwuji connection to the movie is not yet known.

Gunn described the actor as "one of the best actors he'd ever worked with".
