Greece officially opened to visitors from all over the world on May 15, though all tourists are required to take a Covid-19 test prior to arrival or once they get to the Greece airports.

Those coming from different countries must complete additional testing, uploading their negative results online within 48 hours before their flight.

After months of lockdown restrictions, the Mediterranean country also opened its museums on Saturday, including the Acropolis Museum, home to renowned sculptures from Greek antiquity, according to international reports.

Furthermore, the southern European country welcomed the lifting of lockdown measures, with scores of people leaving for the islands or holiday homes on the mainland on Saturday.

On this basis, foreign tourists will be allowed in Greece if they have been vaccinated or can show negative COVID-19 test results.

Also in this regard, international tourists will be allowed to travel between various regions, including the islands and temples.

Foreign tourists and EU visitors would not be quarantined but would have to undergo covid 19 tests, Greece authorities have previously said in an attempt to allay fears of the virus being brought in from abroad.

In a step to encourage tourism, Greece is also making travel cheaper by temporarily reducing value-added tax (VAT) on all transport – flights, bus journeys, and rail travel – to 13% from 24%, according to PM.

Lately, ministry officials have revealed that they have received assurances from the government that it will subsidize salaries in the industry during summer, according to international reports.
