Egypt’s Grand Mufti Dr. Shawqi Allam has called on the Egyptians to participate positively in the parliamentary elections.

The Mufti of the Republic stressed that participating in the democratic elections, including the parliamentary ones, stems from our love and loyalty to our homeland.

He added that the positive and active participation in national elections, including parliamentary ones, is a national duty.

Noteworthy, the first stage of the parliamentary election is kicking off today, Saturday, in Egyptian governorates.

The National Elections Authority (NEA) coordinates with the concerned government agencies to secure the election process.

Police forces are deployed in the streets, while the Interior Ministry raised the level of preparedness to secure the election process.

Earlier, the NEA announced that the first stage of the elections will kick off for Egyptians abroad from October 21 to 23 while it will kick off in Egypt on October 24 and 25.

The re-runs of the first stage will be held for Egyptians abroad from November 21 to 23 and in Egypt on November 24 and 25.

Egyptian expats voted on Wednesday, in the first stage of the parliamentary election over three days, according to the schedule set by the National Elections Authority.

The National Elections Authority decided to allow voting through “express mail” due to the spread of COVID-19.
