Grammy-Nominated Rapper DMX Dies Aged 50

Legendary rapper DMX, Earl Simmons, died at age of 50 following hospitalization for heart attack, his family confirmed the news on Friday.

"Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end," the family said in a statement. "He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him.”

The family added that his music inspired countless fans across the world, affirming that his iconic legacy will live on forever.

“We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time,” the family stressed.

Moreover, the family asked for privacy as they "grieve the loss of our brother, father, uncle and the man the world knew as DMX," noting that information about his memorial service will be announced once details are finalized.

The Grammy- nominated rapper had been hospitalized in White Plains, New York, in "grave condition," his attorney Murray Richman confirmed to ABC New York station WABC on April 3.

He was the first in history to have his first five albums reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.
