Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired on Wednesday the first meeting with the supreme committee formed to develop scenarios for the inauguration ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).

Madbouly affirmed that the State is currently involved in transforming Old Cairo to its original beauty, including "Magra El-Oyoun", Khepe Cairo, and other projects.

He said the committee will confirm the date of the opening ceremony, which will be attended by Presidents, Kings and heads of state from all over the world.

"We will consult international specialized companies to organize a global opening ceremony for the Grand Museum," he added.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Antiquities Khaled al-Anany, Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem, and Minister of Tourism Rania Al-Mashat, as well as Giza Governor Ahmed Rashed.

The prime minister noted that the political leadership attaches great importance to accelerating the opening of the museum.

"The opening of the Grand Museum will be seen by billions of people across the world, thus we will present a definite road map for the event," he pointed out.

On his part, Al-Anany said that the opening of the GEM will be the biggest celebration ever organized in Egypt, adding that a major international corporation will be contracted for the grand event.

At the end of the meeting, Madbouly instructed the committee members to coordinate between ministries and stakeholders at the highest levels so that the opening of the GEM would impressively reflect the ancient civilization and history of Egypt and the country's progress in the modern era.

"This celebration is a great opportunity to promote tourism in the country, " he concluded, ordering the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to start preparing the guest list.
