Gov’t Holds Talks with Global Automotive Firms for Local Assembly

Egyptian government is conducting talks with a number of Indian, Japanese and Chinese automotive companies. The firms include: Tata Motors, Isuzu Motors, Nissan; they are expected to assemble their cars locally in Egypt,  according to official sources.

"A number of agreements will be signed soon," the sources added.

The meetings between the Egyptian officials and the global companies' representatives will continue until the end of the Q1 of 2019.

Moreover, the sources pointed out to the government ultimate support for deepening local manufacturing and bringing foreign companies’ expertise to Egypt.

In addition, Egypt’s Trade and Industry ministry is holding talks with Japanese Company “Nissan” to establish a project in AL-Ain al-Sokhna, the sources confirmed.

It is worthy to mention that, Trade and Industry Ministry signed a cooperation agreement with German automaker Mercedes-Benz to boost bilateral cooperation in the auto industry, last week.

The deal includes the establishment of an engineering hub for Mercedes-Benz in the Suez Canal area for assembling and manufacturing cars.
