The Cabinet Media Center contacted the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, which denied the news of suspending all solar power plants in Egypt, coinciding with the drop in temperatures, stressing that there is no truth to the suspension of any plants.

The ministry stressed that all solar power plants in Egypt operate at full capacity throughout the year, in different seasons, and without being affected by temperatures, noting that various solar power plants in Egypt have been established in sites characterized by the strength of solar energy throughout the days of the year without being linked to a specific season.

It pointed out that Egypt’s production of solar energy recorded about 4.5 thousand gigawatt-hours in 2021 after the completion of the operation of about 32 solar plants, in addition to the stations on the highest buildings and another 26 megawatt plant belonging to the Renewable Energy Authority.

In a related context, Egypt has succeeded in achieving a boom in the production of renewable energy, in addition to adopting an ambitious program for new and renewable energy, which aims to generate 42% of electricity by 2030, as Egypt's production of hydropower during 2021 amounted to about 14,000 gigawatts.

Moreover, the wind energy projects recorded a production of about 5.4 thousand gigawatt hours, while the energy produced from solar cells connected to the grid amounted to about 4.5 thousand gigawatt hours, in addition to 86 gigawatt hours generated from biofuel projects.

The center appeals to various media and social media users to investigate accuracy and objectivity in publishing news, and to communicate with the concerned authorities; as misinformation leads to provocation and confusion of public opinion.
